The Operator of the South African National Lottery is thrilled to announce that the recent PowerBall draw, number 1502, held on April 16, 2024, has crowned three lucky individuals as the newest National Lottery multi-millionaires. The PowerBall jackpot of R13,309,154.20 was won by one player, while two others each walked away with R2,901,985.00 from the PowerBall PLUS draw. 

One of the PowerBall PLUS winners claimed his windfall at the ITHUBA Sandton office on Wednesday. He bought his ticket at an Engen Garage in Bedfordview, with a R45 ticket wager and a manual selection method. Speaking to ITHUBA, the winner, in the company of his wife, expressed that this money will enable him and his wife to see their daughter, whom they haven’t seen in 5 years: “Our daughter stays oversees, so we have not seen her in 5 years due to lack of finances. What’s worse, she has a daughter that we have never met. We will use a portion of this money to travel to the Unites States to see our daughter for the first time in years, and meet our grandchild for the first time. “We want to buy a special gift for the little one, not sure what yet, but something meaningful, that represents Africa, so that she always remembers that she has people who love her on the other side of the world”, said the emotional winner.

The PowerBall ticket was purchased at a Shoprite Checkers in Limpopo with a R60 ticket wager and a manual selection option. The second stroke of the PowerBall PLUS luck fell upon a Western Cape player, who bought their ticket at a Post Office in Cape Town, with a ticket wager of R15, and a manual selection method. These two tickets have not yet been claimed.
