GIDANI PAYS OUT A R30MILLION PRIZE TO POWERBALL AND LOTTO
NATIONAL Lottery operator Gidani has paid out a combined R30million to the winners of last week’s LOTTO and PowerBall Jackpots after the lucky players came forward to claim their prizes.
The past week proved to be a winners’ week as two lucky individuals from KwaZulu -Natal and Western Cape each scooped the R15million LOTTO and PowerBall Jackpots respectively.
Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said “We are delighted that the LOTTO and PowerBall games both produced multimillionaires on the same week.
“The winners come from different social backgrounds where one is a businessman and the other a housewife who wants to give her children a better future. This points to the diversity of the people who participate in our games,” said Tulwana.
Last Tuesday, the power in PowerBall struck once again in the Western Cape, barely three weeks after South Africa’s richest game produced a R91 million winner in the province.
The winner, a 60-year old businessman, spends about R2000 every month on LOTTO and PowerBall. He was at home watching TV when he learnt that he had won the Jackpot.
“I started dancing when I realized that I had won,” he said.
His children stand to benefit from the spoils as he plans to share some of the money with them and save the rest.
Meanwhile, the KwaZulu- Natal housewife and mother of three children could not believe her luck when she received an sms detailing the LOTTO numbers that happened to match the ones on her ticket. Not wanting to take any chances with her new found fortune, the 59-year old kept her ticket safely locked in a safe before she could claim her prize.
Still reeling from disbelief, the winner expressed how “grateful” she was to have won the LOTTO Jackpot.
“I have always dreamed of winning the lottery.
“With this money I would like to give my children a better future,” she said.

Tomorrow’s PowerBall Jackpot is an estimated R8 million, while Wednesday’s LOTTO is estimated at R2million.
