FIFTEEN LOTTO MILLIONAIRES CREATED DURING DECEMBER

Fifteen instant millionaires were created by LOTTO and LOTTO Plus over the festive season, collectively winning more than R28 million.

Of the 15 new millionaires, five are still to come forward to claim their fortune in order to start off the year with millionaire status.

Gauteng leads the pack with six winners who have come forward to claim their money followed by the Western Cape with two, while KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape have so far had one winner each.

The Eastern Cape boasts the biggest festive season winner so far. A man who spent only R28 on his ticket scooped himself a whopping R5 million on Saturday 13 December. This was part of a Guaranteed Jackpot of R10 million which was shared between himself and another person who is yet to come forward to claim.

The five million rand winner said when he realized he had bagged such a huge sum of money, he was in “a difficult situation”.

“I didn’t know what to do because I was in a shop and I couldn’t express myself.”

Close on his heels with a Jackpot prize of R2 187 759 was yet another male from Gauteng who won a LOTTO Jackpot prize.

The motor mechanic had previously won R4 995 and also had luck with the horses, having won R30 000.

“I consider myself a very lucky person. I only spent R7 five days before Christmas when I won the LOTTO jackpot. You can only imagine what our Christmas lunch was like – absolutely fabulous,” said the winner who will invest the majority of the money after paying off his debts.

On Saturday 6 December, seven people walked away with over R1,6 million each after a Jackpot of just over R10 million was shared in the second division.

“The Jackpot had rolled over four times and when it was not won on the fifth draw it had to be shared by those who managed to predict five numbers plus bonus category,” said Thembi Tulwana, Gidani spokesperson.

Only four of the seven winners have come forward to claim.

“We would like to urge all our players to make sure that they claim their winnings as soon as possible in order to prevent the loss of winning tickets,” concluded Tulwana.
