The winner who is a frequent LOTTO participant, selected her number via the  Quick Pick option using her banking App with a R160 wager. She came forward on Friday, 1 November 2024 to claim her life-changing prize after being contacted by the bank on Thursday morning to inform her of her winnings.

It is standard procedure for the banks to contact the winners who have played via their respective banking platforms and won amounts larger than R249 000 to inform them of their win and direct them to visit their nearest ITHUBA regional office, where a simple yet thorough claim and validation process is conducted. Winnings below R249, 000 are automatically paid into the winner’s account.

The winner who excitedly told ITHUBA that she intends to purchase a completely new wardrobe, sat with seasoned trauma and financial counselling professionals following the validation of her ticket at ITHUBA, courtesy of the operator, to ensure the necessary guidance and support as she transitions into her new found life of wealth.

“I have always been hopeful that one day I would win a major jackpot. When I received the call from the bank, I burst into tears. My daughter is the first person I told,” said the winner.

This officially marks this win as the second highest LOTTO jackpot to be won in the history of the game, surpassing the R100 Million jackpot which was claimed by a Pretoria resident only in September of this year.
