One very lucky winner woke up this morning as a multi-millionaire after playing PowerBall on Tuesday, 19 July 2022, winning R99,983,308.10 from the PowerBall draw 1320.  The winner picked their own numbers and played with a wager of R150. It is worth noting that South Africa went abuzz with excitement on Tuesday at the prospect of winning the estimated PowerBall jackpot. Social media users reminisced on their favourite winner stories from the past, while others shared stories of what they would do if they won the jackpot.

As the winner played on the FNB APP, he or she will be will notified via SMS and then will be contacted directly by FNB. The winner will then need to come through to the ITHUBA offices to claim their winnings.  All winners of R50 000 and above are required to bring their proof of identity, their winning ticket or bank notification on their phone, as well as proof of banking details.  This is for verification and quality control processes within ITHUBA.  The winnings are then transferred to the player’s account within 48 hours.

Over the past weekend, two lucky players also bagged multi-millions in jackpots from the PowerBall PLUS draw on Friday, 15 July 2022; as well as the LOTTO PLUS 1 draw that took place on Saturday, 16 July 2022. 

On PowerBall PLUS, the player bought their ticket at Shoprite Checkers in Soweto, Gauteng, with a wager of R45 via the quick pick selection.  This player won R13,909,149.80.

The LOTTO PLUS 1 winner from draw number 2247, won R4,623,303.30. This lucky winner bought their ticket at Boxer Superstores in Pinetown, Kwa Zulu Natal with a wager of R15 via the manual selection.
