A player from Umtata, in the Eastern Cape, won Saturday’s (25 February 2023) LOTTO PLUS 1 jackpot of R3, 495, 804.50 from draw number 2311. The ticket was purchased at Super Spar and Tops Savoy.

Meanwhile, a Nelspruit man who played on the Nedbank banking app has become a multi-millionaire after finally claiming his R10, 996, 254.50 in the LOTTO jackpot draw - number 2303 which took place on 28 January 2023. 

The man in his 40s who works in the security sector, says this is not the first time he wins from a National Lottery jackpot, and has previously won R84 000 from one of the SPORTSTAKE games. He has also frequently won prizes on the fifth or fourth division payouts from the LOTTO and PowerBall games. 

“I have always been hopeful that I would one day win the main jackpot, that is why I have continued to play,” said the man. 

The winner says that he will continue to work and will use his winnings to pay off his debts, although he has no plans of telling his entire family about his newfound wealth, he says that he will be helping them as and when a need arises.

A Cape Town player won Saturday’s (21 January 2023) LOTTO PLUS 1 jackpot of 

R25, 564, 050. 40. The ticket was purchased at Pick n Pay from draw number 2301. The winner chose his numbers manually and found out through the internet that he was the lucky winner. The man also stated that he had always had a feeling that he would win one of the National Lottery jackpot someday. The winner who works in the retail sector, says that he will continue working and plans to pay off his debt and buy property. He has no plans to tell anyone that he has won the LOTTO PLUS 1 jackpot of over R25 million. 

At the same time, a helper who is also from the Western Cape won the LOTTO jackpot of 

R5, 433, 073.30 from the 14 January 2023 draw number 2299. She has shared her news with her daughter regarding becoming the first LOTTO multi-millionaire for the year 2023.

From humble beginnings is a story of a Roodepoort man who grew up living in a mud house in a village in Limpopo, where poverty is rife, and chances of breaking out of that cycle depends on the survival of the fittest. This is the latest LOTTO multi-millionaire who won over R32 million in the LOTTO jackpot draw number 2295 that took place on 31 December 2022. The man - in his fifties, has been working in the national security sector for 34 years, he said that he has come a long way, given his family’s challenging circumstances when growing up. 

“I have 8 siblings and we were very poor while growing up, I attended evening classes while trying to further my education, and later relocated to Johannesburg to start serving in the security cluster, these were very violent times back then,” says the winner. 

He is excited and very humbled to have won the jackpot and has vowed to go back and help those who stood by him during the most difficult time in his life. 

“I will assist my family and my mother-in-law who supported me when my brother and mother passed away,” he added. 

Despite the life challenges, luck also seems to have been on his side as he always wins between R600 and R700 whenever he plays the National Lottery games. The highest amount he had won was R 14000. The winner bought his ticket at Pick n Pay and was played via quick pick. 

“The retail outlet notified me that I had won a big amount and that I needed to go ITHUBA’s offices to claim, I was also advised to bring proof of identity and banking details,” he added. 

The winner also plans to use his winnings towards paying off his house and car, as well as building another house in Limpopo for his extended family. Up until now, the winner has only informed his wife and children regarding winning the LOTTO jackpot. He has noted that he will continue working and looks forward to retiring comfortably in a couple of years.
