After a successful inaugural RAFFLE game launch last year in the National Lottery game category, ITHUBA is excited to announce the Millionaires RAFFLE, which went live on Sunday, 26 March 2017.

ITHUBA had promised Lottery players that it would launch a second RAFFLE game in the second quarter of the year with even better prizes than before, and the Lottery operator is doing just that with the new millionaires RAFFLE.
Breaking the records in South Africa, once again, the game will see 12 winners becoming millionaires in one day. The new RAFFLE game guarantees that 12 lucky jackpot winners will each walk away with R1 million cash all in the same draw. A further 30 second division winners will each win R100 000, with 500 third division winners taking home R10 000 each and a 1 000 division four winners receiving a R1 000 each.

“Ithuba is proud to be launching yet another RAFFLE game for the South African market, and with the success of our Christmas RAFFLE where we sold out all 2 million tickets that were made available, we anticipate that we will sell out sooner than the draw date. We encourage all South Africans to take part in this game which promises much better chances of becoming a millionaire than any other game in our game portfolio”, says Khensani Mabuza, Marketing Manager, ITHUBA.

“At Ithuba, we remain dedicated to renewing games and in the process setting a new benchmark for the South African Lottery,” concluded Mabuza.

The tickets for the RAFFLE game are currently on sale, and only 2 million tickets have been made available, at R20 each. Tickets for the game can be purchased at any National Lottery retailer nationwide and sales will close on 27 May 2017 at 8:30pm with a draw set to take place on the same day at 9:30pm.

RAFFLE is an on-line game that utilises a computerised terminal to record sales and validate prize claims. Players cannot pick their own numbers as all tickets for the RAFFLE are generated through a “Quick Play” system. The ticket number selection is made on a random basis by a random number generator and will be issued in sequential order.

Free State housewife becomes R26 Million richer with Lotto Plus

The Free State winner has finally come forward to claim her winnings.
Since the Lottery was launched in the country 17 years ago, this housewife – now turned millionaire – has always played the LOTTO game whenever she had extra cash.

Today, the Free State housewife has a bank account worth the value of a Caribbean Private Island. The R26, 550, 301 windfall was the biggest ever jackpot for LOTTO PLUS since the game’s inception.
The winner carefully selected her 6 winning numbers and only purchased the ticket for R15. She told Ithuba that her and her husband usually spent R500 on a monthly basis on LOTTO AND LOTTO PLUS tickets, and that this jackpot was the first winnings ever.

The very emotional winner described how she found out that she was the jackpot winner, “I found out about the winning ticket while standing in my kitchen and checking the results from a text message on my phone. When I got to the 3rd correct number, I just started screaming, shaking and spinning around. I was unbelievably excited. I phoned my husband, but he couldn’t believe it either and said that I should make sure first. I then phoned the Ithuba office, who confirmed that I did in fact win”.

The winner says she plans on investing most of the money to prepare for their retirement. They have both always wanted to tour South Africa, and will now be able to afford it, and she would also like to take her husband on a long-term dream of going to visit Namibia and Malawi.

Tearful, the winner said, “we never thought that we would ever win, things like this don’t happen to people like us, we are poor people”.

Both with her husband, the winner received financial advice, psychological and emotional counselling.

ITHUBA’S BIGGEST EVER LOTTO PLUS JACKPOT WINNER OF R26 MILLION

ITHUBA is delighted to announce its latest jackpot winner of the LOTTO PLUS mega million jackpot of R26 million, which was won last night 01 March.

ITHUBA celebrates with a Free State player after scooping the R26, 550, 301, 34 jackpot. This is the 7th jackpot winner from the province. The LOTTO PLUS winning ticket was purchased at RM Bottle Store in Henneman, Free State. The winner made a manual bet of R15.00 and selected their own six numbers – and has immediately become South Africa’s latest multi-millionaire. The winner is yet to come forward and claim their newly-found millions.
ITHUBA would like to urge another lottery player from Free State who has not yet come forward to claim the PowerBall winning ticket of R9.4 million. The draw for this ticket was 24 February 2017. This winning ticket was a Quick Pick ticket bought at the Post Office in Ficksburg, Free State.

Ithuba congratulates the LOTTO PLUS winner and encourages all players to spend their winnings wisely, ensuring they make use of all the winner’s services available. Once a winner has come forward to claim their winnings, they receive financial advice and planning from Ithuba as well as emotional counselling which aims to assist the winners with their new financial statuses.

All winners have 365 days to claim before their tickets expire. Prizes up to R2 000 can be claimed at any retailer whereas winnings between R2 000 and R50 000 need to be redeemed at the Post Office. Prizes valued at over R50 000 can be claimed at any of the Ithuba regional offices.

LOTTERY players in South Africa will be playing for mega millions this Tuesday and Wednesday as the biggest lottery jackpots for February are still on the line.

This week, lottery players around the country are in for a treat as the National Lottery will be bringing jackpots on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This time around, the second chance games are taking lead with life-changing jackpots : PowerBall PLUS for tomorrow’s draw is estimated at R30 000 000 while LOTTO PLUS for Wednesday is estimated at an astonishing R28 000 000. This is the highest ever jackpot for LOTTO PLUS since inception. The National Lottery operator, Ithuba, is delighted that players will get chance to play their favourite game at its peak.

Other jackpots include, PowerBall is estimated at R2 800 000 and LOTTO estimated at R15 000 000.
Matching all five numbers and the PowerBall will and matching all six numbers for LOTTO will most definitely put the winners in the lottery millionaires’ list.

Tickets for both games are currently on sale. The PowerBall draw will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 February and LOTTO draw on Wednesday, 1st of March 2017, both at 9pm.

With so much at stake, players should brace themselves for longer than usual queues at lottery terminals as many players are expected to be taking a chance for the close of February big jackpots mania, hoping that Lady Luck will smile on them at the last days of February.

Players should not miss this opportunity to play for this incredible Jackpot via the various lottery channels available, such as the retailers nationwide, online: www.nationallottery.co.za, and mobile device channels such as FLASH, Kazang and A2PAY.

ITHUBA’s reinvigoration of SA’s lottery games has seen Powerball overtaking Lotto as the most popular lottery game.

Since Ithuba took over as SA’s third national lottery licence operator in June last year, it has significantly increased the number of locations where the lottery may be played, making the lottery games accessible to more South Africans.

The introduction of the Powerball Plus game which presents players with an extra chance to win and an improved Powerball game with a modified prize structure that allows for bigger jackpots, saw average weekly sales skyrocketing to over R100-million. This represented a 25% year on year sales growth during December and January.

Between November 28, 2015 and January 16, 2016, weekly sales stood at an average of R108-million as Ithuba’s expanded marketing spend; increased prize pay-out percentage and intensified jackpot awareness initiatives, among others, had grown the players™ interest in the lottery games.

During the same period in November 2014 and January 2015 under the previous lottery operator, the weekly average was R86-million.  During this time, Ithuba achieved a weekly high of R140 million which was the second highest total in the history of the South Africa National Lottery.

This was achieved despite Ithuba not having an ideal start with part of its resources focused on a protracted legal battle with the previous lottery operator.

However not to be distracted by this but rather armed with a bold vision and unmatched strategy to bring the fun and excitement back into the lottery games, Ithuba came out strong and still managed to work hard to provide the country with a lottery service every week.

Ithuba’s bold marketing drive, new games and the modification of the existing games has already grown the lottery and led to good revenues as it successfully brought back interest in the lottery games which was fading away.

The fact that the Powerball sales have now surpassed those of Lotto is a clear indication of the massive positive impact the newly introduced changes by Ithuba have made.

Ithuba had forecast that by June 2, 2016, annual weekly sales would average R94-million, with total annual sales totalling R4.9-billion; however it has already exceeded projections  since the introduction of the improved Powerball and Powerball Plus. In comparison, the last full year of the previous operator’s operation only achieved an R86-million weekly sales average missing its projections by almost 50%.

Ithuba is pleased to confirm that it is on track with its mission aimed at growing and reinvigorating the lottery to ensure that good causes benefit more and players enjoy additional chances of winning.

A Cape Town man has joined the list of millionaires in the region after winning the LOTTO PLUS jackpot worth R21 664 253 on 17 December 2016. Gearing up for an exciting festive season, the lottery player visited Ithuba offices to claim his winnings that will change his life forever.

The excited family man confessed to Ithuba that he never thought he would win as he had been playing the lottery for many years and had never won anything before though he had been always hopeful. The winner spent only R30 on his winning Quick Pick ticket at Kenilworth Racing, Retreat Mall, Cape Town.
After discovering that he had won, the LOTTO PLUS winner kept his winning ticket in his wallet and only confided in his son about the windfall.

The winner well in his fifties said he plans on investing most of the money to so he is able to provide a better future of his children. “Education is important to me and with these winnings, I will be able to provide the best education for my children”, said the winner.

He is also planning towards his retirement, and the winner has always had a dream of running his own business and plans to venture into business with the help of his winnings as capital.
“You have no idea what kind of a huge difference this will make to my life and that of my family”, the winner told Ithuba when asked what winning the jackpot meant to me.

Ithuba also provided the winner with financial advice and counselling to ensure that the winner has all the knowledge, resources and advice on how to cope with his new wealth.

KwaMashu man wins PowerBall Jackpot

Written by

A KwaMashu man has joined the ever growing list of millionaires that Ithuba has created after winning the PowerBall jackpot of R8 446 068.90. The winning ticket was bought at Hines Cash and Carry, Durban for the draw that took place on 09 December 2016.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born man – an avid player of lottery games – said he has been playing the same numbers for over 16 years and his perseverance has finally paid off.

On the day he bought the winning ticket for R45.00 and as per norm, he stuck to his numbers that he has been playing all these past years. “I don’t know how to describe it to you, but I honestly had a belief that someday my numbers would win. That is why I never stopped playing the same numbers all these years,” expressed the winner when asked why he never changed numbers.

The player revealed that he had the longest night of his life after realising that he was the jackpot winner. “I was watching the live draw show when my five numbers plus the PowerBall came through. It felt surreal. I had to check the ticket three times to make sure I really won”.

“It then hit me that indeed I was a millionaire. Afterwards, I immediately fetched a pen to write my name on the back of my ticket and had a silent prayer to thank my God and ancestors,” the visibly jubilant winner expressed.
The jackpot winner says he wants to settle all his debts with his winnings and also give a financial boost to his family so they can self-sustain. “I’ve already made contact with my home loan provider and I want to settle my bond, then look to extending my house.

“But also just as important for me is to ensure that my new wealth is not only enjoyed by me but my family too. I want to give a financial business loan to my family members so they can sustain themselves and not look for handouts, that way the wealth of our family will grow beyond this,” said the winner.
Ithuba also provided the winner with a financial adviser to ensure that the winner has all the knowledge, resources and advice on how to cope with his new wealth.

The winner jokingly says after all these years it is now time to change the numbers he normally plays on lottery games as the previous ones have served their purpose.

THE festive season is a time for giving, and Ithuba is doing just that for all lottery players across the country with a guaranteed R20 million jackpot for LOTTO PLUS and a further estimated R20 million for LOTTO.

Don’t miss out on these two jackpots, the draw will be on Wednesday, 14 December 2016 at 9pm on SABC 2. The tickets for the jackpots are on sale at all National Lottery retailers, online via www.nationallottery.co.za, banking channels and mobile device channels such as FLASH, Kazang, and A2PAY. Ticket sales close 30 minutes before the draw.

LOTTO has to date created over 105 841 489 number of winners and 352 millionaires throughout the country, while LOTTO PLUS has over 83 651 959 and 155 millionaires.
LOTTO and LOTTO PLUS draws are broadcast live on SABC 2 at 9pm on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Players need to be 18 years or older to play.

Ithuba, the National Lottery operator, is appealing to KwaZulu-Natal residents who have not yet come forward to claim their LOTTO and LOTTO PLUS tickets purchased last year. The unclaimed LOTTO tickets are worth R10 Million and R1.6 Million respectively.

The R10 Million winning ticket was purchased for the LOTTO draw on 16 December 2015, at Moonlight Superette, Warangal Road, Merebank, and will expire on Friday, 16 December 2016, if not claimed. The second unclaimed ticket from the region is worth R1.6 Million and was bought from Pick n Pay, Arbor Crossing at Amanzimtoti, Durban and will expire on Monday, 19 December 2016 if not claimed.

Ithuba urges the players to contact them immediately with their ticket to claim their winnings.
Players are advised to check their tickets regularly and validate them at their nearest retailer or visit any of the Ithuba regional offices to see if they have winning numbers. All winners have 365 days to claim before their ticket (s) expire. For winners services and jackpot details, please contact ITHUBA player helpline: 0800 484 822.

The lottery player joins 10 other millionaires already created from the province.

The overwhelmed yet humble winner said he found out that he had won while watching the PowerBall Draw show with his family, and cried after realising that he matched all the jackpot winning numbers.
An avid player of both PowerBall and LOTTO games, the winner played his properly thought and planned numbers on the day of the draw and spent only R45 on his winning ticket. The winning ticket was bought at Village Supermarket in Grabouw.

“After living from hand-to-mouth every single month and some months without money, I will finally be able to buy my dream house and provide for my family. All I have ever wanted to do was to have a house where my family could live comfortably, and be able to provide for them in the best way possible. My family has always wanted to fly in an aeroplane to go on holiday, this dream is finally going to come” concluded the winner..

The winner also plans to donate some money to a charity organization which he has already identified.
Ithuba celebrates with the PowerBall PLUS winner. The winner has received financial advice and also emotional counselling to assist with his new financial status.
